It's free for you
According to Section 75 of the Children's Act, as parents of children in care, you have the right to a support person and your child and youth counsellor has a duty to offer you one.
It's free for you. I am paid by the municipality, and they are the ones who decide how many hours you can use me.
I am a private practitioner and independent of the municipality. They have no right to know what you are talking to your support person about.

As a support person, I can:
-
listen to your pain, thoughts and feelings
-
Be there for you
-
Inform you and assist you with your legal rights
-
Help you prepare and attend meetings
-
Help you get as good a contact with your child as possible
-
Support you and your family to be able to handle the placement.
-
I can't help getting your child home.
